Why Works 2005 upgrade for Office 2003?

As we speak, I am running Office Update for Office 2003.

One of the listed REQUIRED updates was

Security Update for Microsoft Works Suite 2005 (KB943973)

What's that got to do with Office 2003?
MUST I install that "REQUIRED" update?

Hi Howard,

Are there any listings for
Microsoft Word
Microsoft Works
or Works in Word Suite Add-In
listed in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel?

Any of those might trigger the update flag.
'Required' for updates can mean a couple of things, such as -

1. There was a potential security hole found that updating addresses.

2. Future updates (six months out or so) will expect a previous update to be present so that the future update can be installed.

So there isn't a 'must' (it is still *your* computer <g>) just MS's opinion/recommendation.

Nope.
Those critters were never on this PC.

I just finished the Office 2003 update.
When I asked OfficeUpdate to check for more updates, it again listed the
works update.

The KB article states "This update applies to the following product:
Microsoft Works Suite 2005.".
