Why would "Clear Flag" be missing in the Followup Flag dropdown?

David

On the To-Do List of Outlook 2007, there is a Followup Flag field all the way
to the right on each item on the list. In the right-click menu for that
field, there should be a "Clear Flag" entry, but it isn't there for me (but
is there for a coworker).

Any reason why?

Are you right clicking on an item that is flagged? Clear wont show up if
there is nothing to clear. also, try resetting the view - right click on
the field names and choose Custom then reset.

Thanks for the reply...

I'm not sure what you mean by "item that is flagged". All items in my To-Do
List have the Followup Flag set (most are "No Date"). I am right-clicking
the flag itself and getting a list of flags (Today, Tomorrow, No Date, ...)
as well as a few extra items (Add Remiknder, Mark Complete, Delete Task, Set
Quick Click). From documentation, it seems that "Clear Flag" has been
replaced with "Delete Task". I know others in my group have a "Clear Flag"
menu item (and no "Delete Task"), so I suspect a configuration issue. If I
click on the flag itself, it does Mark Complete (is there a way of
controlling that??). If I bring up the Task form (ie. double click on a
task), in Followup drop-down, I see that No Date is checked and there is no
"Clear Flag" here either. Where do I set what the default flag is for new
tasks (I think it usually defaults to "Today", but for me it seems to be "No
Date").

Oh, I recently converted to Outlook 2007 from Outlook 2003. I wonder if
there could be an issue with the Exchange server??

I was using a different view that shows all tasks but not the icon which
lead to my comment about flagged items. Anyway -

Delete task is only listed for actual tasks, flagged messages will have
Clear.

You can't prevent clicking on the flag from marking complete - just click
again to uncomplete. For tasks, you'll either need to show all in the view
(default is to hide completed items) or go to the tasks / to-do folder to
change it.

Ahh! That makes some sense now!

Then let me ask my question a different way. On the To Do Bar, all my tasks
show up because they are flagged (most with "No Date"). There appears to be
no way to clear the flag, so they always show up. I'd like to "defer" some
of my task to some TBD future time and not have them show up on my To Do Bar.

Is there a way to do this?

You can customize the view to filter out no dates. right click on the row of
field names and choose customize.
