width of inserted pictures for rtf files

N

Nick

Using Word XP, I'm inserting an image using Insert,
Field, INCLUDEPICTURE insert, using the /d option so that
the image is NOT stored with the document. I'm resizing
the image manually, and making it about 7 inches wide.
When I save the doc as an rtf file (which is required),
close Word and then re-launch Word, the image width
changes back to about 6 inches. There do NOT seem to be
any settings for the INCLUDEPICTURE insert which control
this (and it does NOT happen if I save as a DOC type, but
I cant...). Any ideas out there?

Hi Nick,

This goes back to at least Word 6 with linked graphics
and RTF format

If you set any Layout choice for wrapping style on the graphic
other than inline with text the size information should be
retained. Unfortunately that will also embed the graphic
in the file when it is saved. For linking you'll need to
use a graphic sized to what you want, or save as a
web document, either HTML or MHT format.
