I am trying to track down a Word 2002 error that appears
about once a day for one person in my department. She's
been using copy and paste to place small check boxes onto
a form. (The box is taken from Wing-Dings.) After doing
this successfully on a number of lines, she suddenly
discovers that from one of those boxes forward the
keyboard is remapped, and text is displaying erratically.
The positioning arrows switch directions (i.e.,right goes
left and left goes right), and the cursor moves from just
past the pasted square to the end of the text and then
backward. Furthermore, if I go into Reveal Formatting and
select a word at the beginning in a sentence, Reveal
Formatting shows the corresponding word from the end of
the sentence, and vice-versa. (For example, if I
select "One" in the sentence "One Two Three Four Five",
Reveal Formatting says "Five" is selected.
At the moment, it appears selecting the box
through "Insert\Symbol" works around the problem,
although it is too soon to be sure. Has anyone else seen
this problem? Could this be the result of some slow
corruption of the Clipboard's contents?
Thanks,
Gordon
