Will Office 2000 load onto XP?

I have Office 2000 (small biz edition) running on a Win 98 SE OS. I recently purchased a 2nd system running the XP OS (home edition). I want to load the Office 2000 cd's onto the new XP OS as back-up (which has only MS Works Suite loaded from the factory). Will the XP OS accept and run the Office 2000 from cd?

If at some point I want to then upgrade the Office 2000 on the XP OS to Office 2003, will that work with the Off/2003 upgrade edition?

Seems simple enough but I am not familiar with forward/backward compatability of the OS's and Office software packs.

Yep, you can install Office 2000 or 97 with XP with no problems at all.
