Will only download email on startup

After attempting to install Internet Explorer 8 (it stopped responding)
Outlook no longer will download email from the MSN server after it is open.
If I log out and log back in, Outlook downloads my email, but unless I close
the program and open it again it does not download email. It also does not
download when I press the Send / Receive button.

You're using beta software on a production system? Whatever for? You
shouldn't be using IE8 on a machine with data you care about.
