Win/XP / Access 2003 weirdness on startup

Kevin

I've run Access 2002 on Win/XP before, but since trying 2003 on /XP I'm
experiencing some weirdness I haven't been able to pin down.

My startup form does a lot of stuff, like opening a hidden form to
control the close of the database, and checking computer name and asking
for a user name which is not necessarily the Windows user name, and
checking the link to the back end, so I guess this may be expected, but
I'm hoping somebody will recognize a symptom here and give me a hint.
I've run the whole thing in debug mode and still can't pin it down.

Symptom 1: If the database window is open, it scrolls rapidly from the
first entry (I think always the tables) to the last entry. It does this
several times during startup, whether or not I'm actually relinking the
tables.

Symptom 2: At the end of my startup routine I present the user with a
signon form... a normal Access form which controls MY version of
security and menu access. About every other time I start up, the
startup routine is executed and the signon form is presented properly.
The other times I get an Access window, without the form, and the window
is greyed out until I right-click on its taskbar box, and then the
signon form is immediately visible. Everything is, in effect, frozen
until I right-click in the task bar on the app. Then the signon form
appears. Now, mind you, this only happens about every other time!

I would swear, but not on my life, that this did not happen when I was
running Access 2003 on W2k.

Any whacko ideas here?

Thanks,

Kevin
