WIN2003 server holding Word docs for MAC

Ted K

I've installed a server into a network with one PC and 4
macs all running 10.3. THe MACs have office 2004. When
the macs access word documents and try to save the are
successful a couple of times(with the same doc) but then
they get an error saying "you don't have the correct
permissions or a network error has occured". the network
is fine. If you rename the doc it will save OK back into
the network folder, or you can save the original doc to
your desktop. WHAT's UP????!!!?? THe company has many
docs and renameing each one is not an option.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi Ted,

This is an old problem which seemed to be behind us, but maybe not. What is
the precise version of your OS? See this article:

Thanks for the response. We tried a linksys NAS device that formats
the connected hard drives with a linux partition hoping to alleviate
any microsoft security issues but to no avail. The OS on the MACs is
10.3.5 They are creating their docs from old docs used as templates
perhaps that is the source of this issue? Oh well we'll keep on
trying.
