Win2K/ Office 2000 can't browse folder

Hi,

I have a couple of desktops that seem to lockup in Word or Excel 2000 when
browsing into a particular network folder. The user will choose file/open
then browse to the folder - a portion of the contents appear in the file
open dialog box, but then the system appears to hang. The only way out of
this is to end task.

I've confirmed that this folder can be accessed fine from other systems
(both XP and 2K).

Also the problematic systems can open files from this folder by navigating
there using explorer without any problems.

Suggestions?
