WIN98 system can't open word files on XP system in dialog box

I have a system running Word 2000 on WIN98. Other system
on network runs XP and Word 2000.

I can open a file on the XP system from the Win98 system
using the Explorer. I cannot open or save on the XP
machine from the 98 macine using the dialog box. The 98
mahine hangs.

The disk on the XP machine is mapped to the 98 machine.

Any idesa?
