is the below statement correct?
WindowActivate WindowName:="myfile.mpp"

it doesn't seem to be doing anything..., is it the syntax?

the WindowActivate on its own works, but comes up with a pop up selection
window,

Try recording a macro of you manually doing required behaviour. The
recorded macro will give you your answer.
