Window has problem and closes word

When using Word I type in a heading like Dear Sir or
Madem, up on doing this I get the message that Windows
has encountered a problem and must close. When looking
at the details it envolves winword.exe and mso9.dll.
I've checked the compatability of winword.exe, I've also
renamed both and tried to repair office. I've
uninstalled and reinstalled both office and my version of
XP Pro with no change. Any ideas?

To add to Suzanne's advice, I also recommend that you clear out the
abandoned temp files. The temp folder should be empty when all applications
are closed. It is normally found in Documents & Settings/Username/Local
Settings/Temp. From a cold restart, navigate to the folder and delete
everything that you find.
