Window sizes won't stick when first starting the application.

I had my document window just the way I wanted it when I would start
the app, but something happened that I can't remember, and now the
window's a weird size and its title bar is behind my horizontal
toolbars. How do I get a window size to stick that it will remember
when I start the program? Thanks very much. Peace.

Grab a toolbar (by the left edge). Float it around until stuff jumps
out of the way and let it sink into the "sweet spot". Once your toolbars
are properly docked, the windows will stay in the right place
automatically, even through a restart.

Reset the window size manually (drag bottom right corner around). Word
should automatically continue to use the last window size a document was
saved in.

Once it's set, you should be fine--it might wig out again next year, but
the fix is easy enough.

If it really messes up frequently and you want to learn a bit about
macros to force it to always behave, you can, but be sure to state OS
and Word version.
