I'm assuming you mean you are using Office 2008 (Word, PowerPoint,
Excel, Entourage), not Windows 08.

In your email program, put the word "attachment" into Help. Look for a
topic that offers to troubleshoot sending attachments, and it should
give you directions for sending windows-friendly attachments.

Thank you
I have done that
It has not made any difference
I create the docs using Word
I save them to DOCUMENTS
When I attach them they are said to be a word doc but that is still not allowing them to be opened
This is affecting more than one recipient computer
For info - I HAVE NOT CHANGED ANY FACTORY SETTINGS ON MY PUTER OR ON THE DOWNLOADED WORD 08
Does that make a difference?
Thanks

What email program are you using - Entourage, Apple Mail, something else...?

Do your Word documents end in .doc or .docx? If they are the latter it may well be that your PC version of Office cannot read them.
Re-open the document on the Mac and then use save as. In the save as format specify that you wish to save the document in a format compatible with Word 97 - 04

Yes, that does make a difference :)

This is an error on the PC end. There are some things you can try to help
them work around it.

1) Tell the PC user to save the file to a folder before trying to open it.
PC email programs should not allow them to open Word documents directly from
their email, because that's how they get viruses.

2) Make sure you have enabled "Windows Friendly Attachments" if you are
using Apple email. If you are using Entourage, check "MIME" as your
encoding format and "Append Windows File Extensions" as your default for
sending.

3) Before sending your file, Zip it using the Mac "Create Archive" command,
which appears if you right-click the file in the Finder.

4) If the Windows PC is running a version of Word younger than 2007, it
needs a converter to open Word 2008 .docx files. Tell them to download it
from the Microsoft website.

Hope this helps
