windows 2000 network user cannot save documents in word

Using XP Pro with word 2003. User is not able to use save or save as in
word. Other MS applications work for user and other users can save in word
when logged in to the same pc. User has same issue when logged in to other
pc's.

Suggestions? I don't think it is a local ward install issue.
