Windows 3.1 card file format

Hi Carla,

You can try the following procedure. It is old but may still work:

To convert a Cardfile file to text format, do the following:

1. To install the Generic/Text Only printer driver, first choose the
Printers icon in Control Panel.

2. Configure the Generic/Text Only printer driver to the FILE port.

3. Open Cardfile and load the .CRD file you want to import.

4. From the File menu, choose Print Setup.

5. In the Print Setup dialog box, select the Specific Printer option button,
and then select the Generic/Text Only driver.

6. Choose the Options button. In the Options dialog box, select No Page
Break.

7. From the File menu, choose Page Setup. Clear the Header and Footer boxes.

8. Close the dialog boxes and choose Print All from the File menu. You are
prompted for a filename. Enter the complete path and filename with a .TXT
extension.

9. Close Cardfile and open Word for Windows. You can now open the document
as a text file and convert it to Word format. There may be extra blank lines
if all Cardfile lines were not used. (These have to be removed manually.)

You can now load the file into any application that reads text files.

Another option is to look for some 3rd party conversion utilities on the
'Net.

Good luck!
