Windows Address Book

I was sent a .wab file by someone trying to create a family directory. She
could not get all the entered information (spouse, children, address,
birthdate, etc.) to print. Since she has neither Access nor Excel she sent
the file to me to see if I could convert the file to one of these formats so
that all entered info would print.

I have Office 2003 as well as Works. Is there a way to import data from a
..wab file into one of these other programs and get it to print all the
information instead of just printing name, email, business phone and home
phone?

A .wab or Windows Address Book file is the address file that works
with Outlook Express...which comes with windows as part of Internet
Explorer. You should probably have it on your computer. You should be
able to import the file into it.

I do have Outlook, but it is not configured. I don't like it and since my
email is web-based I don't use it.

If I configure Outlook to work with my web-based email (I am not on any
other servers) will it still import the address book? Also, will I be able
to print a complete directory of all the info entered?

Thanks.

I assume you mean that Outlook Express is not configured. Outlook and
Outlook express are different programs.

Suggest you:
Save the *wab address book to a folder such as My Documents.
Open Outlook Express. You do not need to configure for email. When
opening, check that you do not want Outlook express as your default email.
In Outlook Express go to File, Import and import the address book from
the folder you saved it.
In Outlook Express go to File, Export the export address book as a Txt
(Comma Separated Values) or *csv file to some folder such as My Documents.
In Excel use file open. In the types of file listing, scroll down to
text, ...*csv {comma separated values} and select the file you saved.
Or:
In Access use file open. In the types of file listing, scroll down to
text, ...*csv and select the file you saved.

Yes, I meant Outlook Express - shortened it for my convenience.

I tried what you suggested. To Import into Outlook Express I first had to
save as a VCard file. Then when I tried to import, it only imported one
entry. Within this one entry the only information imported was the
information that I can already get to print from Windows Address Book, NOT
the rest of the entered information that I am trying to access for printing.

Also tried saving as a .csv file and importing/opening in Excel. Same
information imported as imported into Outlook Express, although the entire
address book was imported. However, ONCE AGAIN, I am only able to print the
basic information of Name, Home Phone, and Business Phone because that is all
that is being imported.

In Address Book there are different tabs for more information. The
information on these tabs is the information I'm trying to get access to so
it can be printed as well. This information includes Home Address, Email
Address, Spouse and Children's Names, Birthdays, Anniversarys, etc.

This information can also be entered under different tabs in Outlook
Express, but the information already entered into the Address Book is not
imported when I try to import the Address Book.

I hope I'm being clear. It seems that there really ought to be a way to
accomplish this task.

Thanks for any help, once again.
