Each time I use the shortcut (windows & S key) to copy something to onenote,
it creates a duplicate notebook when it copies over. Also I've changed my
settings to copy the item to the current onenote page, but this is not
happening either. Using Onenote 2007 with Vista (32 bit) PLEASE HELP,I'm
getting really tired of closing all the duplicate notebooks.

The settings for win-S (at least in ON 2007) are:

1) "copy to clipboard" -- the image is copied, but then you have to do
something with it -- paste it by picking a place and hitting CTRL-v
2) copy to clipboard and unfiled (show image) -- image is copied, but is
also pasted to the unfiled notes section, and then OneNote automatically
switches over to the unfiled notes immediately
3) copy to clipboard and unfile (don't show image) -- this is like item 2
except you are left wherever you were when you took the image. There is a
copy pasted to the unfiled section but you have to go there to see it. But
you can hit ctrl-v to paste, like item 1.

Thanks for your reply, but I think I am doing that. I'll explain further.
When I go to the the page of the program i want to copy from, I hold down
the w+s keys. The window gets covered with a whitish sceen. I select ( by
dragging a box) what I want to copy. It automatically (yes) goes to the
unfiled pages. However at the same time, my entire notebook is duplicated.
Now I have two of the same notebooks open in seperate windows. Each time I
copy something else , the notebook gets duplicated again, and I land up with
a bunch of different windows all containing the same entire notebook!

Yes - this is working as it should. It really isn't duplicating your
notebook. It is opening a new copy of OneNote to the page where the screen
clipping lands. You can move around in those instances just as you can in
the main interface. Or, you can close them and only keep one open.

Thanks Kathy (same last name). Really, this is the way it works! Love the
program but it really is aggravating having to close windows all the time
(especially when you copy a lot, like I am doing). Isn't there any way around
this? Is there a plan to fix this?

Thanks

Yes, there is a way around it. Leave OneNote open and kick off your screen
clip from the toolbar instead of with Windows-S.

(Having said that... I don't do that either. I use SnagIt. Works much better
and lets me send my captures where I want.)
