I have this annoying error.

I have Vista 32, sp1 with Office 2007 sp1.

Whenever I double click on the file icon (xxxx.doc or xxxx.docx). Office
word opens then gives me above error. If I close word and then redo same it
will open. This it does with any of Word Docs.

This is just so annoying and time consuming. Anyone have same or similar
problems?

Did you check the location of the file in question? It could be you have a
shortcut to a file in your Word Startup folder and the file has been either
deleted or moved to another location.

If that's not it can you provide the full text of the message? The most
important part is the location and the name of the .docx file in question .

The file is on desktop. Even if you just generated and saved the file, it
says same error, but it opens 2nd time. I am double clicking on the file it
self.

Are you using Norton or Kaspersky AV? If so, disable the Office Plug-in
(Advanced Options in the AV).

No, I have comodo and AVG.

Its just funny why it wont work first time I double click but it will 2nd
time. I see others are reporting same problems, so I am guessing there may
be an issue with upgrade or some quirk

I just did repair option on office 2007, unfortunately the problem is still
there :(

Try temporarily disabling your AV and Firewall and see if it is still the
same.

Also check to see what add-ins you have installed. Sometimes the Live Office
add-in causes weird problems on some computers.

I have exact same error on Vista with Office 2003

I searched a couple of hours and tried the below, BUT it still the same.

NO WORK TO ME

1. In Microsoft Office Excel 2007, click the Microsoft Office Button, and
then click Excel Options.
2. Click Advanced, and then click to clear the Ignore other applications
check box in the General area.
3. Click OK.
1. In Microsoft Office Excel 2003 or earlier versions of Excel click
Options, on the Tools menu.
2. Click the General tab.
3. Click to clear the Ignore other applications check box, and then click OK.
After you do this, you should be able to open workbooks by double-clicking
them in Windows Explorer.
