Windows Configures Microsoft Office...

I installed the trial version of office home and student 2007 on my brand new
laptop (vista 32-bit) and it worked perfectly fine, however after a few
office updates (using windows update) I have a reoccurring problem where by
windows configures Microsoft office by launching windows installer each time
I open any office application (new document or previously saved document). I
decided to restore my laptop to factory settings and decided to try again and
made sure I installed everything onto my hdd rather than leaving anything to
install from disc when needed. Windows Installer delays the opening of any
office application by a good 2-3 minutes...I do intend to purchase a licence
key at the end of my trial providing I have fixed this problem! Anybody had
the same experience or suggestions of stopping windows installer starting
every time office is used? Thanks

P.S.

I had Works pre-installed and uninstalled it immediately and rebooted before
installing office 2007.

Thanks for the suggestion however it corrupted the office installation and I
had to reinstall it again, once again office worked fine until office SP2 was
installed via windows update. Word for example opens with no problem when
opening using a short cut directed to "winword" in the program files
directory, however configures when using the start-menu short cut or even
opening an existing file. I've searched for many hours for a correction
however failed to find one!
