windows excel files taking forever to open

D

David Henderson

Hi,

I am a fairly recent convert from Windows to Mac.
Running Panther on a G4 Powerbook (1 Ghz/768MB Ram) and office vx with
latest service pack.

Opening a rather large Windows Excel file (7.5 MB) containing lots of
pivot tables and about 20 worksheets takes almost 15 minutes to open,
compared to about 30 seconds on a windows machine.

Is this a common occurance when using the same excel files between platforms?

Is there any known fix for this kind of issue?

Also, when I open Windows Excel files with pivot tables, the Pivot
Tables don't seem to work on the Mac, even tho I have the MS Query
tool working and accessing the same Db.

I think I may be missing some steps somewhere along the line...

Any help gretaly appreciated.

Rgds,

David Henderson.

I've not run into this magnitude of difference.

Is there any known fix for this kind of issue?

I don't know of any systematic problem, so I don't think there's a
systematic fix.

Do no PTs work? What size are the PTs?
