windows installer and office xp

Ok I am reposting because I forgot some importnat info

I am having problem installing Office XP onto my Inspiron
1100 runing win XP. When I got the computer orinigally I
installed Office xp just fine. But now, when I want to
install some components i get a message: This patch
package could not be opened. Verify that the patch
package exists adn that you can access it, or contac the
application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows
Installer package.

When i put the Office XP cd to try to reinstall the
program, i get the same message.

In addition, when i run Office xp update, i get a series
of messages including this one:

You installed Office updates in the past and then
upgraded from Windows Installer version 1.0 to Windows
Installer version 1.1. For more information see the KB
article Windows Installer May Prompt for Install Source
if Unavailable.


Do i need to reinistall Windows or download an Windows
installer package for Win xp?

Hi, Carlos,

Try running the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, then re-install Office XP
and its updates:

OFF: Err Msg: This Patch Package Could Not Be Opened ...:
