Windows Installer Error 1603

When I tried to download a word document that was attached
to an email I received, it said "Microsoft Word can't
import the specified format. This feature is not currently
installed. Would you like to install it now?" (this
document is in Spanish). I clicked on "Yes," and it
said "Error 1706. No valid source for product Microsoft
Office 2000 SR-1 Professional. The Windows installer
cannot continue." So I pressed "OK", and then it
said "Microsoft Word can't import the specified format.
Microsoft Word cannot install the necessary files due to
Windows installer error 1603. Fatal error during
installation." So I pressed "OK" for that, too. I tried
this a few times, and then a window came up saying that I
might need to log on as an administrator on my computer in
order to insall things. I tried both usernames that I have
on this computer (it is my own personal computer and
nobody else uses it), but it wouldn't let me log on as
an "administrator." I also got a similar error yesterday
when I tried to download a game. It said "Error 5: Access
is denied." I don't know what to do to remedy this
problem. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

First I'd say you need to get the Administrator error resolved. Since
this newsgroup is more for Word problems, and an Administrator issue
is a Windows problem, you might try posting to the Windows newsgroup
for your version of Windows. The Windows gurus that hang out there
should be able to help you out.

If after you are able to log on using Administrative rights and the
error still occurs then post back and we'll go from there. However I
suspect once you are able to install the correct converter you will no
longer encounter the Word problem. :)

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.
