Windows Installer Error 1605

I just installed Windows XP Office Proffessional on a new laptop. I moved my files from an old laptop to the new one, and now when I try to open Word 2002, I get the Windows Installer Error 1605...cannot open due to template problem. I've talked to Microsoft, and they refered me to a web site that told me to delete the "bad" template from the Startup folder. I don't have any templates in that folder. What can do to eliminate this problem. I can click on the OK button in the error dialogue box about 20 times, and then it finally disappears and lets me into Word. That's not a great fix, however!

Uninstall Office XP, restart your computer, go to the programs file folder
and delete the Office 10 folder, restart and proceed to install Microsoft
Office XP again.

If you want take it step further, go to Start > Run, type in regedit, expand
HKEY_LOCAL_Machine > Software > Microsoft, select the Office folder, go to
the Edit drop down menu and press delete, restart your computer and then
proceed to install Office XP.
