Windows Installer error

Attempting to install Office Student Edition 2003 on
Windows XP.

CD read begins then stops before product key input with
following box:

"Windows Installer: Error opening installation log file.
Verify that the specified log file location exists and is
writable."

What should I do?

I have the same sort of problem with a Home Use CD for
Office 2003 which gives me Office 2003 for an admin fee
as I use Office at work for my employer. Set up provides
me with the boxes to enter product key, but when i do, or
before i have time to type it all in it times out after
about 10 secs and goes back to my screensaver.
