Windows Installer is going competely crazy !?

Windows Installed is running uncontrollably. How can I stop this?

Starting a few weeks ago, every time I open the Help in Word or Excel,
Windows tries to install something and I get a slow series of pop-up boxes
and can't do anything until they run their course. (see below for the
contents of these boxes). After I've clicked Cancel and so forth as
necessary, the Help functions normally, as it always has.

To the best of my knowledge I have made no changes to the computer that
could account for this. It started happening around the time I did Windows
Update. But I don't remember if it began *immediately* after, which would
mean that one of the Updates clearly is the cause.

thanks

I'm getting a similar action everytime I download my
email in Outlook. Windows Installer pops up and takes
control as I download each inidividual email message. I
tried to repair the Microsoft Office installation but no
help yet. Thanks.

Have you tried the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility? I had a similar problem
and it did clear it up. It's available on the MS Website. Sorry, don't have the
URL, but if you put it into the Site Search, I'm sure it will turn up.
