Windows Installer launches whenever opening MS programs

Each time I open a MS office component, the Windows installer launches. I
cancel 2 to 5 times, and then am able to use the program easily. When using
Outlook Express, the installer launches with each email that I open.
I found an answer for this problem for Office 2000, but the links from the
solutions page were not clear enough for me to follow. Any suggestions?

the instruction to follow the link and find orktools.exe was not one I could
follow.

Your link could be the answer to a lot of similar quistions on this fora.
You didn't wrote, which version, you are trying to install, but try to
follow the link, and insted of the old "9"-version look in the "last" key.
"10" has to be Office XP (2002)
"11" is Office 2003 and
"12" is Office 2007.

I found the three values in
"HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11\Common\LanguageResource" , and the data
for the three values was all REG_DWORD 0X00000000 (0).

Seems like You have to follow the Method nr.2. Try that.

If this isn't the cure - try look for my solving solution in "Setup
Installationfile runs"
in this or the "Setup" fora I think about the 14.th of January. It worked on
me, but it took a night.

I tried the method number2 on both my 2003 file, and then when that didn't
work, I tried it on my 2000 file also.
Still an annoyance. I'll try and look up your old post.

These keys, which is referred to, must only be found in the neweest
installation number.
If they are otherwhere, the old installation is not cleaned up, and that was
the matter with my installation. There was a lot of old stuff left in the
registry.

I will say, that the Windows installer no longer launches when I am opening
WORD, but still launches when I am using Outlook Express (every email
opened), Outlook (when launching program), Internet Explorer, and Excel

Okay - one problem solved.
And youre right - I discovered yesterday that my MSAcces still started the
installer.
A new night in front of the computer.

I found this link

"Access 2003 may not start as expected after you install Office 2003 SP2".

So I looked in the registry on my laptop, where Office ran normally, and in
the key despribed in the KB, I found a lot of keys and values, which were not
in my stationary registry.

I then followed method 1, started Access, the intaller ran once, and after
that, all the programs are running just normal.

If you don't have access to a normal running Office 2003, you can write your
e-mail, and I will send you my *.reg file. All you then have to do, is to
correct eventually disklocations.
