windows installer runs everytime I open a word doc

To summarize.
PC crashed. Installed office from scratch, from CDs.
This installer problem started.
Tried everything in that article.
Then I tried this tool. After that it claimed tere was no association with
the .doc file type.
I fixed that and tried to open a doc. No errors, nothing at all happened.
I re-installed office from scratch again.
Same installer problem.
Rats!
