Windows ME start up errors

upon start up following errors occur in this order:
1. Mouseware unable to continue - mouseware registry
acccess error
2. Loading your settings failed (the configuration
registry key in invalid)

3. the start button is locked up, c/n right or left click
on it,nor does control escape work.

pls advise
