Windows Office 2007 Update fails

This one is confusing the heck out of me!

I'm running Vista Ultimate, and Office 2007 Ultimate.

When I did a Windows
Update I was told of four security updates to Office. They download
properly but do not install: when I try to install them I get a consistent
error on each of them: Error 91A.

I can find no such error in Microsoft's Knowledgebase. No solution in the
other Microsoft.public newsgroups to date.

I tried updating in Safe Mode and get the same error message.

What should I be searching on to identify and alleviate this problem? Any
idea?

Thanks!

Ross

Still getting a "91A" error on these updates as of five minutes ago, after a
new download........

And now it installed perfectly! Must be magic because there has been no
announced fix or the mysterious 91A error........

Having what same problem, Mark? Please describe what is happening on your
system in detail; include any error messages you receive (especially error
numbers); list what update you are trying to install when this happens; what
version of Office?

Sky - it is the horrible Egghead Cafe interface and postings that causes this. I simply skip them since you have to go back and forth too many times to get to the root problem. YMMV.

Okay, I had the same error. I noticed some people talking about having blank discs in their drives but I had nothing in mine, but I remembered I had some images mounted on my PC. So try ejecting all DVD's CD's and see if it works.
It worked for me.

Rename MSMAPI32 (Not MAPI32) to MSMAPI32.old with Outlook completely closed.
Open Outlook and allow it to run a repair.
