Windows or Linux server

J

Joe S.

I don't know anything about the difference between Windows servers and Linux
servers.

I have several domains, each of which has a website and each of the sites is
hosted on a Linux server -- however -- to host can provide Linux or Windows
servers..

I use MS FP to edit, create, and publish each website.

These sites are simple -- text and photographs; themes and shared borders;
some of them have a capability to search the site. I don't run cgi scripts,
asp applications, shopping carts, frames, etc. -- just text and some photos.

Do I need the Linux or the Windows hosting?

Does MS FP care whether it's publishing to a Linux or a Windows server?

Thanks.

No. In fact, you can be hosted on any web server.

With each version, FrontPage cares less and less. Expression Web Designer
doesn't care at all. Earlier versions required FrontPage server extensions
on the web server, although you could get around that as well, if you knew
what you were doing.

But there are features in FP & Expressions that will only
work on a Windows server (ASPX pages), and Expressions uses
Net 2.0 for some of its features further upping the server
requirements
