I recently installed Outlook 2010. After doing so I noticed the following
Windows Search 4.0 behaviors:
All the files on my hard drive indexed as did my .pst and mailbox files
associated with Outlook. I can open, drag and drop, and preview files that
are not associated with Outlook. Files indexed through Outlook can be
opened, but I cannot drag and drop, nor preview them. There is a message in
a yellow banner "Full preview of this item is not available unless Microsoft
Outlook is running." Obviously Outlook is running. The text of the message
is displayed in unformatted form. Attachments cannot be previewed at all. I
can work around this but it is a significant loss of functionality.
Is anyone else experiencing this behavior? If so, has anyone discovered a
fix for this?
