Windows Sharepoint Configuration Wizard (WSCW)

Hi Everyone,

Just need to understand the role that the WSCW plays during a restore
of a project server installation.

According to the installation guide and in the case of a clean install,
the WSCW is run just after sharepoint has been installed and configured
and just before Project Server is installed.

I am now testing a restore that requires all components to be restored
including the databases which I have backed up. The question...Does the
WSCW need to be run when working with a database that has been
restored??? If you try and do this, a dialog is presented with the
following text;

Sharepoint configuration wizard cannot create
MS_ProjectServer_PublicDocuments with the template that you have
selected. You must use the project workspace template or any other
template you have created by using the Project Workspace template.
Ensure that the template has been installed into the correct directory,
and then run the Sharpoint Configuration Wizard again.

Any ideas anyone???

Hi,

You don't have to run the WSS config wizard again if you have backups of the
WSS config and WSS content DB.
Just restore your backups. Have a look at the Project Server 2003 Disaster
Recovery Guide for how to backup your environment using marked transaction.
