Windows SharePoint Services error

We are receiving the following error when WSS is accessed -

" The documents, risks and issues features in Project Web Access use Windows
SharePoint Services.
A Windows SharePoint Services site needs to be created for your project
before you can share project documents or track project risks and issues.
Site creation takes a few minutes, so if the project was just published, wait
a few minutes and then visit the page again. Otherwise, contact your server
administrator."

Infact the site is already present. Recently our projectserver and database
server were shifted to a different machine by doing image copy of the entire
servers. Before this shift WSS was working perfectly. Application event log is
writing below error each time WSS is accessed.

"#50070: Unable to connect to the database SPS01_Config_db. Check the
database connection information and the database server is running".

What settings i should check the make this connection possible. Any idea on
why this is happening in this new environment?

Thanks.

Malin,

I looked at the URL. It is mentioning SBS 2003. I am not aware of what this
is. I have WSS installed on project server which is a windows 2003 server and
the database server is on a separate machine which is also windows 2003
server with SQL 2000 on it. Hence i was unable to take help from the URL.

Any other ideas??

Thanks
Rajesh.

Just because it mentions SBS 2003 (Small Business Server) there's no reason
why it only applies to that.

Both SBS 2003 and Project Server 2003 include WSS. It could easily be that
this article (or the solution in it) is also valid for the WSS in Project
Server.

Did you read it all or did you stop when you saw "SBS 2003" ?

I'd ask a thousand questions about this "full image" rebuild in order to start any kind of troubleshooting.
If it is truely an exact bit level copy would there not be very little chance any changes exist except Mac address.
Therefore reinstall the network card and protocol stack.
