Windows Startup = Word 97 startup

S

Smills

Every time I restart my computer (Gateway machine Windows 98 running Word 97)
Word starts up with a blank document. I have run MSCONFIG and cannot see any
likely culprit in STARTUP and have run anti-malware (sysclean, cwshredder)
and anti-virus (stinger and Norton 2005) programs without result.

Seems to have started happening following load of Adobe and running Spybot
S&D.

Does not happen in SAFEMODE, just normal boot. Always opens the document
before login.

It's driving me crazy! Can anyone help? TIA...

I'm sure you checked this but it doesn't hurt to mention it anyway,
did you check your Start/Programs/Startup folder for a shortcut to
Word?

Thanks - yes I had checked startup.

Turned out to be the system scheduler - Word was in the scheduled tasks to
start on reboot. A program install had newly added the scheduler to the
startup items in MSCONFIG. Scheduler then started Word.

Removed word from the scheduler and all now OK.

Thanks for your time...
