Windows to Mac - Converting Metafile?

Hello,

I've been trying to run an Excel spreadsheet made in Microsoft Excel 2003 Professional for Windows which has quite a few macros. When I open the spreadsheet on my Mac, I first get a dialog "Graphics Filter - Converting Metafile". After this I get the option to enable macros, which I do, and then I'm shown the beautiful spreadsheet. However, the buttons/box controls are now useless graphics files. Is this an issue I can resolve so I can utilize the functions of Windows generated box controls?

I apologize if my terminology is incorrect. I'm not the most advanced Excel user.

Thanks in advance!

In all probability the objects you refer to are Active-X Controls about
which you can do nothing. Active-X isn't supported by the Mac OS & most
likely never will be. However, the procedures executed by those controls
might still be executable in some other way - such as assigning them to
keystrokes, toolbar buttons or items from the Forms toolbar in Excel 2004.
It just depends on what type of procedures they are & how they're
constructed, but even so there may be other insurmountable issues.

Unfortunately, any files that are intended to be moved cross-platform have
to have that taken into consideration before the fact - even if the programs
*were* identical the operating systems aren't.
