Windows to Mac transition

I am one frustrated converter. I miss the fact that in Windows I can avoid
using the mouse except for formatting. I have found many of the similar
keyboard shortcuts (after much exploring) BUT I haven¹t found anyway to
access the Menu bar directly on a mac without using the *@$# mouse. This
slows me down immensely. Any suggestions beyond Control F2 and then tapping
the arrow keys to move laterally and vertically? While this gets me partly
there it is not an adequate substitute.

The better solution is to assign keyboard shortcuts to your frequently
used commands. You can assign just about any key combo to any command.
Choose Tools/Customize/Keyboard...

I almost never use the mouse, and I never have to memorize a menu
sequence. That's great for me, since I work in environments where the
default menus are almost always disabled and custom ones installed - I
may have three or more different menu sequences for a common command in
any one day, but my keyboard shortcut works in all of them.

Otherwise the system's menu shortcuts using the arrow keys are the best
non-mouse option.
