windows unexpectedly tries to configure microsoft office pro 2000

I am operating WIN XP SP2. When I turn my computer on, windows unexpectedly
tries to configure microsoft office professional 2000, which leads to a
series of error messages when I cancel this microsoft office professional
2000 message box.
It is also periodically occurring during the day. Can anyone explain what is
happening and how to correct?

Are the Office 2000 applications working properly on the PC? Have you
tried allowing the configuration to finish?
