windows xp act as an exchange server?

Someone told me Windows XP could act as an exchange server on a peer to peer
network to enable such a thing as sharing an OutLook workgroup calendar.

Can this be done? If so, is there a step by step how to somewhere? I am
currently using a shareware program that works OK but if XP will do it, I'd
rather use XP.

Currently the network is a mix of Win 98SE, XP, and XP pro. 8 computers in
all.
