Windows XP - shift key causes cursor to move with Letter B and Bolds text with l

When I engage the shift key and type the letter B ....
they cursor seems to move to another spot on my page.
When I engage the shift key and the letter G ...... text
becomes bolded and if I don't immediately stop the text
then deletes. How do I disable this? This has only been
a problem for me since having Windows XP.
