Winlogon.exe initiates restart of computer

I'm on a PC running XP Professional, using Office XP
Professional.

Whenever I load ANY Office XP component (Word, Excel,
Outlook, etc.), here's what happens:

1. The office assistant disappears within seconds after
ap loads.
2. A window comes up telling me that the office assistant
has stopped responding, but the application continues to
work.
3. Within about 20 minutes (yes, minutes), the entire
computer shuts down with the following message:

Event Type: Information
Event Source: USER32
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1074
Date: 1/29/2004
Time: 10:16:20 AM
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: JEFF-OPERATIONS
Description:
The process winlogon.exe has initiated the restart of
JEFF-OPERATIONS for the following reason: No title for
this reason could be found
Minor Reason: 0xff
Shutdown Type: reboot
Comment: Windows must now restart because the Remote
Procedure Call (RPC) service terminated unexpectedly

If I DON'T load any Office XP components, the computer
works just fine!

SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!!!
