winmail.dat using outlook and microsoft exchange server

I can't forward attachments I received. The recipients
receive winmail.dat instead of the correct attachment. I
am using Outlook 2000 and Direcway (by the way I would
never use them again) which uses, according to their tech
support, Microsoft exchange server.

any help would be appreciated

Stop using Microsoft's proprietary Rich-Text Format and instead use HTML
(or plain text).
