Winword 2000 --> Winword XP filename issue

I have MS Word 2000 on one computer and MS Word XP on the other. If I create
a file using the older edition of Word and save it with the newer edition,
the filename changes. For example: I create a document with the older
edition and name it "Document Name.doc". When I save it with Word XP it is
RENAMED, "Document%20Name.doc".

Do I have incorrect settings?
Do I need to get a patch to update Office XP?
How do I correct the situation short of getting a new version of Office for
the other computer?
