Winword application hang

I've seen this question aroung but I thought I'd ask it again.

My user are using Office 2002 sp3 and having application hangs- and in the
workstation event log I'm getting this error message:

Hanging application WinWord.exe, version 10.0.6612.0,
hang module hung app, version 0.0.0.0, hang address
0x0000000

I've read that perhaps i'ts the antivirus, but I have one user who isn't in
the NAV server group ( he's running a single version of nav 2004), and he
still gets the issue.
I've compaired the hang times to other events and have found nothing in
common. Patches and upgrades have been done.

Let's chase down a few particulars. Does MS Word die (1) while opening
and getting ready to work, (2) when loading a document, (3) only when you
perform certain processes, or (4) something else? Have you tried running
Word with the antivirus package disabled? Is Word running from your LAN or
is it installed on each workstation? We need to pinpoint the commonality of
each workstation. Are there any problems with PowerPoint (the kid sister to
Word)? How about Excel or Outlook? Does this happen only on the same
document or any document?

okay- the apps are on the wkstations, it happens with all forms of Office
Apps, they use word mostly. It seems to happen when openning and saving all
docs from a mapped drive on the Server, and the kid that doesn't have the
Corp Nav installed ( using Nav04) also has problems. It doesn't seem to
happen with anything else, however the office apps is the majority of what is
used.
Once again, the machines totally freeze for up to 2-3 min and then come back
and work fine. Until next time.
