Winword caused an invalid page fault in module RPCRT4.DLL

P

Pato KIng

OS = Win98
Office ver = Office 97

I have been getting this error message on a couple of PCs
now.

It happens that one will attempt to open an email
attachment and the error message appears. After you close
the message, Winword will not start and you cannot open
any other word documents. Also, you are unable to open
excel documents after that.

I observe that after I restart the affected PC, winword
works fine...but until some later time when you try to
open some documents.

NOTE: A document will at one time cause winword to give
the error, but when you restart, the same document opens
fine with no error.

How do I get a permanent solution? Without upgrading the
Office version, or upgrading the OS?
Regards,
Patrick.

This is the Remote Procedure Call Runtime dll and the error is usually
because the dll is corrupt or the wring version. Try copying the dll from a
workstation that works correctly and installing it on the bad workstations.
