Winword caused and invalid page fault......

Cheryl

I have Windows 95 and Microsoft Office (Word 2000). While
using Word, if I only save my work to a disk I cannot open
the disk later. A blue box pops up on the screen with:
This program has performed an illegal operation and will
be shut down. If problem persists, contact the program
vendor. When I click on 'details' it says: Winword caused
an invalid page fault in module WKWDADDN.DLL at
0137:62fd5258. Then it shows a list of 'registers'. I can
take that same disk to another computer and it works
fine.

If I open Word 2000 and then decide I don't need to use it
afterall, I click on 'x' to close it and a box pops up
that says the same as above, only the module is
KERNEL32.DLL at 0137:bff7aaca. I've tried using 'Help' in
Word and clicking on 'detect and repair' but it still does
the same. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Below is a reply I received from Alan in the Windows 95
group:

I suggest you post to a Word or Office group but this is a
quote from an Office MVP to a similar question:

"the Microsoft Works Suite Add-in for
Word (WKWDADDN.DLL) is nothing but a nuisance and is best
uninstalled immediately."

Try the Office group and mention your version of Word or
Office.

WKWDADDN.DLL is the Microsoft Works Suite Add-in for Word, which causes a
multitude of problems. If you are running Word freestanding (not opening it
from the Works Task Launcher) and don't expect to be using a Works database
or address book as a data source for a Word mail merge, you would be much
better off uninstalling the add-in (through Control Panel | Add/Remove
Programs).

If by save to a disk you mean a floppy, note that this is one of the easiest
ways to lose your work. Always save to the HD first, then copy to the
floppy.
