winword error in Win 95

Puzzled

I have MS Office designed for Windows 95 installed on my Windows 2000 system.
My Word program has disappeared -- Access, Power Point, etc are there, just
not Word. When I try to open the Word icon I receive message saying,
"winword has caused an error in -unknown-" I've tried re-installing Office,
to no avail. Help!
