Winword error in winword.exe

Every time I clidk on the Tools menu I receive an error
message that say Winword has caused an error in
WINWORD.EXE. WInword will not close. It does not save
documents when this happens it just shuts down. HELP

What version of Word are you running? Make sure that the latest Service Pack
and Patches for your version of Word is installed. From File > Open > Files
of type: (pop down menu), select Recover Text from Any File (this if the
document was saved prior to crashing.

Also check your temp files directory (folder), to see if a back copy of the
document was created.
