We have an IBM xSeries server, that is an Intel based x86 processor, running
Windows 2000 operating system and has Microsoft Word 2000 installed on. We
have an IBM AS400 running a Lotus Notes Domino instance that around 2500 end
users make use of for their e-mail and domino databases.
For some reason, the Microsoft Office Word installed on the Intel x86 based
server keeps causing traffic on port 80 on the AS400 Lotus Notes Domino
server. We have no idea why. We can shut down the Intel x86 server that has
Microsoft Word installed on it and the traffic on port 80 on the AS400 stops.
We have two utilities that are confirming the IP traffic of 4MB in and a
reply of 3MB out and that it is happening on teh AS400 IP port 80.
Both utilities, an IBM AS400 utility and another utility titled Relicore are
both reporting that the perpetrator is Windword.exe on the Intel based x86
server.
This is crazy… Nobody is using this Intel based x86 processor server and
this is why we are able to shut it off during production hours. This server
is used by four members of our technical staff for pushing Microsoft patches.
They are all aware of the issue and none of them are using Word while we are
watching the phenomenon. Even after rebooting this server, Word starts up
this repetitve action of traffic on port 80 of the AS400 with no user
interaction?
Anyone of you Office gurus know why \\Intelx86server IP Address - d:\program
files\Microsoft Office\Office\Winword.exe would be showing up on our reports
as the perpetrator causing the traffic on our \\AS400 IP Address : Port 80 ?
Thanks in advance for any help or links to this issue!
