winword.exe, corrupted?

Steve

I had to format my computer. I reloaded Office 2000 with no error messages.
I can open the Publisher, and all other office components EXCEPT Word!
States Word, winword.exe might be corrupted. I have tried to find the
normal.dot, but it does not exist on my computer. How can I get the .EXE
file I need to get the running again? PLEASE HELP!

To see normal.dot, you need to open Windows Explorer and make sure that
options are set to see system and hidden files and that the hide file
extensions option is not set.

I tried all that and it still does not show the file. There has to be a fix out there somewhere, I just wish I would find it.

I tried that and it still did not work. Something has happened in the
orginal program that will don allow me to reload this program into my
computer. Why?

I tried all that and it did not work. All other aspectes of Word work, except winword.exe itself. I have gone through every file, (manually) and cannot find anything marked normal.dot. It's really getting to me.

Thanks,
Steve

Saying that "All other aspectes of Word work, except winword.exe itself" is
nonsense, since winword.exe is the Word executable. If it were not working,
you would not be able to open Word or use it at all.
